Officers Reports:
VP - John Knobbe: Last month we voted on accept or reject and arbitrate on the states last offer. 98% of voted to reject. Since then we have met 4 days in an attempt to reach a agreement. At 11:30pm last night (5-9) the state walked away from the table. AFSCME has offered to meet again if the state is willing, or to go to the mediated arbitration scheduled for the end of the month. This is under a “black out” per the mediation. At the SEPC, a motion was made to keep the same master assembly and team into the next contract as the current negotiations or arbitration will not be able to be ratified until January 2013. The locals will be able to fill any vacancies in their assemblies. If a voluntary agreement is reached it will go out to member vote. If it is an arbitration agreement, it will only go to legislation to be ratified. Volunteers for the vote in Wisconsin are needed and if you can give any of your time, call Council 5. A new VMO opportunity in July (9th-15th) is opening up to organize, Mental Health Adult Foster Care workers in the South Metro area. If interested contact me. As more info is available, reports will follow. In Solidarity, W. John Knobbe
