Staffing
Management has been reviewing staffing patterns and exploring future staffing options. Staff input has been sought and received. There is mixed feedback regarding potential change.
The union stated there are notes from previous supplemental negotiations regarding maintaining a fixed 5/2 rotation that were not printed into the contract. Management responded staffing changes are forthcoming. Input is welcomed and appreciated. The union asked what is driving these proposed changes, and management explained that overtime is the main thrust. There is a business need to change. The intent is to plan staffing patterns for the future, as well as for the present.
The union asked why a 6/2 rotation would be a better staffing plan. Management responded that a number of options are being discussed and asked that staff not be specifically focused on a 6/2. Management added that seniority will be taken into account, and a change may result in increased vacation slots.
