  1. 1st Watch vacancies/bumping/general culture-Management did a survey after concerns were brought up at last meet and confer. They survey was for the first watch staff to give input on what they prefer. Management said they will continue to bump to 1st watch and that 3rd watch is getting fairly full-6-7 new staff hired.  There were 5 positions on 2nd watch open-4 of them went dead. They are going to be asking for 3 more volunteers to go to first watch.  Labor wanted to clarify that new hires are getting told that they may need to work all three shifts.  Management has agreed to try to get the word out prior to getting hired.

MANAGEMENT AGENDA ITEMS

  • Anti-Racism training -covered by AFSCME agenda item
  • Refusing Inverses-covered by AFSCME agenda item
  • Helping Hands policy is moving forward and on 3/28 Karen Holicky will present this to the lead meeting.
  • Client Mentoring is going start up again. 3/14 Corey McIntire will be letting the lead meeting know
  • Staffing supervisor- Human Resources would like to have all step 1 grievances where the subject is scheduling issues to go to the scheduling supervisor instead of direct supervisors. Labor agreed to this.

AFSCME AGENDA ITEMS

  • Weather Related Call-Ins – Vacation vs Comp Usage-Labor is hearing that members have been told they have to use comp time when calling in due to weather.  Management hasn’t denied anyone the usage of vacation for weather call in.  Management will put out a communication at roll call/lead meeting that will let them know that vacation can be used.
  • Doctor’s Appointments and Inverses-Labor was told that members are told they can’t be making doctor’s appointments outside of their shift.  Management agrees that they shouldn’t send that message but ask that members communicate that they have an appointment right away when they know there’s a possibility of them being inversed instead of waiting until they get inversed to communicate that.  Management also asked if people have appointments that happen daily then they provide documentation of those appointments.
  • 1st Watch Survey-Labor asked if the OD could let 1st watch staff know that the survey is truly anonymous and that they can answer truthfully.  Management is willing to send a communication out to add some clarification on the survey.
  • Anti-Racism Training Scheduling-Labor wanted clarification as to when the anti-racism training was to be performed, during work hours, only on overtime, or some combination.  Management said that overtime will be granted to get the training completed, but it is also offered during work hours for people to participate. Labor also asked that management get the announcement back to the top of the announcements on the home page to remind members to get it completed. Management agreed to do this.
  • Radio Battery Update-Management has contacted Motorola on a monthly basis, and they are being told that the batteries are still on backorder.
  • Hospital coverage-Labor asked if hospital coverage could go back to the way, it was prior to the unfilled shift bonuses, where members get a chance to go home after their hospital coverage has ended.  Labor brought up that it might get more people to volunteer to cover it.  Management will talk it over and then get back to labor.
  • Fentanyl Update-Fentanyl training is DCT’s court to develop the policy and procedure.  Management will let labor know as soon as they know more.
