If interested please contact Molly Kennedy (53001). Motion for the local to pay usual expenses, lunch, and loss time for the trainers by John Knobbe, 2nd by Shannon Pech. Motion passed d). There is an AFSCME office located at Sunrise that we would like to see utilized. This office does need to be cleaned out and are looking for volunteers. Would like to have an office outside of the campus but this depends on cost. Research has been done on rent and what has been found has been over budget. When places have been used that are outside of St. Peter, only officers have shown up. e). Motion by Molly Kennedy to pay usual expenses and per diem for the President’s Meeting February 21st that John Knobbe will be attending. 2nd by Shannon Pech. Motion passed. f). Motion for cell phone bills to be reimbursed $100 for the President, Vice President’s, and Chief Stewards. Currently the President and Vice President’s receive $65 toward their cell phone bill. The cell phone numbers are available to the membership via the local 404 website http://www.union404.com/ under “Contact a Steward.” These officers receive many phone calls regarding union business on their time away from work and have made themselves available to the membership at all times. Move to amend the motion at the next meeting (April 17th, 3pm @ The Redmen) by Luke Frederick, 2nd by Shannon Pech to be voted on by the members.

Presidents Report: Tim Headlee.

Dear, AFSCME Local 404. First and foremost I would like to thank the Local 404 members for the opportunity to represent you as your local President including the privilege of working with our most talented and dedicated local 404 Officers/Stewards. Not forgotten are those members who have continued to invest in many different ways helping provide support to our sisters and brothers of local 404. Thanks to the several members (Chuck, John, Luke, Ryan, Eric, and Tom) who took time aside to attended, participated and represent local 404 during lobby week. It sounds like they did an excellent job bringing forward major topics/issues on our behalf. A big thanks to those members who recently volunteered to engage in steward training on March 12th. This is a wonderful step forward in uniting and strengthening our Local. Reminder, Day on the Hill will be held March 25th. Last but not least with recent changes occurring and those projected for MSOP & MSH, I’d like to encourage local 404 members to continue to communicate and share your ideas as we work parallel with management to ensure were all invested in future operations. Your professional approach is recognized and appreciated. Thank you, Tim Headlee Local 404 President

VP-John Knobbe: “ The focus has been on the patient death. That said business goes on. I will be at the council on February 21st to get information on legislative issues. I have been working with the scheduler office for Frequently Asked Questions so the rules are transparent for all. We continue to bring forward issues over vacation availability in the Forensic Nursing Home and NOC’s MSH now has 6 spots. We will be lobbying next week (Feb. 24th – 28th) during the first week of session. Grievance resolutions have been coming at earlier steps. We continue to enforce the contract and want the membership to continue to bring forward issues. In Solidarity, John Knobbe

VP- Molly Kennedy “ We had MSOP meet and confer Thursday February 13th and some of the items discussed were MSOP CPS will probably be taking the north wing in the Sunrise building for client bedrooms. This wing will work like a separate unit and be staffed that way. We are to contact Liz Barbo with any questions. We also spoke about mandatory breaks when getting shift in progress, removing our last names from our badges and the creation of a list of stewards who can be called for investigations.
We are trying to coordinate a steward training for Wed March 12th. If anyone is interested in attending and can get the time off please contact me and I will put you on the list.
The Member Action Team met in December and it would be nice to plan another meeting. If you are interested in being a part of this team please contact Adam Castle.

CS MSH/Transition: Ryan Cates

In the last month we filed 3 first step grievances for overtime, 1 third step for a termination, and 1 first step for a non-cert. There were no responses for these before the membership meeting.

CBHH/CARE: Matt Stenger.

CS – Facilities and Forensic Nursing Home: Homer/Stenger Mike Homer: I have had a step 2 grievance that got approved.

CS – MSOP: Matt Stenger

Matt Stenger: In CARE and CBHH we have two grievances filed and are working with HR on a couple of other issues. We are setting up meet and confer for both CBHH and CARE. It is also in discussion to making this an every other month meeting instead of once every three months.

CS – NOCS: Shannon Pech I have not had any grievances since January’s meeting. Staff morale in CRP seems to be down. The idea of having a morale survey sent out to CRP staff was brought up.

EB-Luke Frederick.

EB- Adam Castle I have put together a flier for getting involved on the local’s site. I am also going to be working on filtering grievances. This would include tracking investigations by looking at which have been resolved, which have not, and investigations ending in our favor.

EB James Hemshrot Nothing to report this month.
